Plumas Arts announces its upcoming First Friday art reception Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring the work of Devon Holzer. Holzer is a Plumas County artist whose creations are deeply rooted in a lifelong connection to nature. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of art, sips and bites while exploring the gallery’s newest exhibit.
Holzer said her artistry traces back to her childhood in Southern California, where she grew up on an avocado orchard surrounded by rugged barrancas and ocean views. Inspired by the intricate beauty of the natural world, she began drawing at a young age and continued to hone her skills through art classes and a career with Patagonia. Encouraged by Patagonia’s founder to pursue her passions wholeheartedly, Holzer now works in colored pencil, pen and ink, and photography, creating striking pieces that reflect her love of the outdoors.
A 21-year resident of Plumas County, Holzer said her art is a celebration of the landscapes she explores daily. When she isn’t creating, she can be found hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and spending time with her family and granddaughters.
The art reception is free and open to the public. The Plumas Arts Gallery is located at 525 Main St. in Quincy.
