Seneca announces retirement of Dr. Dana Ware

Seneca Healthcare District announces the upcoming retirement of Dr. Dana Ware, a respected and steadfast provider at the Lake Almanor Clinic, effective Dec. 31.

For over 38 years, Ware has been a cornerstone of compassionate, high-quality care in the community, said SHD. Since graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1984, she dedicated her career to serving the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding communities, providing family medicine services and building relationships with generations of patients.

The hospital highlighted how Ware’s dedication to her patients, her professionalism and her commitment to the SHD mission have left a profound and lasting legacy that will continue to inspire both patients and colleagues for years to come.

“Dr. Ware has been a pillar of strength and compassion in our district,” said Shawn McKenzie, SHD CEO. “Her commitment to her patients and this community has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are deeply grateful for her years of service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”

“It has been the honor of my life to care for this community,” said Ware. “I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families through generations of life’s milestones. I will forever cherish the relationships built and the trust placed in me. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives.”

As the hospital prepares for this transition, staff encourage Ware’s patients to begin planning their continued care. SHD said it is actively recruiting a new provider for the Lake Almanor Clinic. In the meantime, the following current providers are accepting new patients:

  • Lori Koehler, family nurse practitioner
  • Joe Russo, doctor of osteopathic medicine
  • Heather Smith, physician assistant
  • Stefanie White, family nurse practitioner

Those seeking more information or to schedule an appointment with a new provider can contact the Lake Almanor Clinic directly at 833-227-3742. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. The facility also offers walk-in services.
