The Plumas County Elections Office reports it is preparing for the upcoming uniform district election, as well as the recently called statewide special election. To help make this election run as smoothly as possible, staff are requesting voters’ assistance in ensuring their registration is as up to date as possible.
Voters can assist in the following four ways:
- Update registration. Those who have moved or changed mailing addresses need to reregister to vote with their most current information. Those who have not moved or have recently visited the Department of Motor Vehicles can call the elections office to confirm their registration information is still up to date and accurate. Voter registration cards can be obtained from local post offices and the elections office in the Quincy courthouse. Alternatively, voters can update their information online at the California Secretary of State’s website.
- Notify the office regarding seasonal addresses. Those who will be out of town during the election can provide the office with a seasonal address. A seasonal address allows voters to receive their ballots while they are out of town, wherever they may be staying. Seasonal address request forms are available on the elections office website.
- Be aware of the registration deadline. The deadline to register for the upcoming election is Oct. 20. Anyone who misses the deadline and still wants to vote will be required to come into the Plumas County Elections Office to vote a conditional ballot.
- Cancel registration after moving. Those who have moved out of Plumas County should reregister in their new county and include their Plumas County address in their registration history. They may also fill out a voter registration cancellation request and mail it to the Plumas County Elections Office. Voter registration cancellation requests are available online.
Election mail cannot be forwarded. If voter registration is not up to date, ballots may be returned to the elections office undeliverable and may not be received in a timely manner.
Ballots will be mailed Oct. 6. Anyone who does not receive a ballot by Oct. 20 is asked to contact the elections office as soon as possible. The elections website includes other important dates, deadlines and election information. Election information updates are regularly posted.
Elections staff encourage the public to reach out to the office at 530-283-6256 or [email protected] with any questions.
