Public welcome at BLM advisory council meeting

The Bureau of Land Management’s Northern California District reports that its resource advisory council will hold a virtual meeting via Microsoft Teams on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the public are welcome, and can register to participate. The council will hear public comments at 11 a.m. A copy of the agenda is available online.

RAC members will hear discussions on Ólak Ólohtem-Lost Coast Redwoods management considerations, review and consider approval of Forest Service business plans for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest fee proposal and Lassen National Forest, receive updates on wild horse management including the Carter Reservoir Environmental Assessment and adoption suggestions, and hear state and district reports. Council members will also receive updates from BLM leadership.

All are welcome to address the council during the public comment portion of the meeting. A time limit could be set to accommodate all speakers, say organizers.

The 15-member council is composed of varied public land interests including recreation, livestock grazing, timber and forest products, environmental organizations, wild horse and burro management, local government, the academic sector, state natural resource agencies and the public at large. It focuses on lands managed by the Northern California District, which includes land in far northwest Nevada. More information is available from BLM Lead Public Affairs Officer Jesse Pluim at [email protected].
