The Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce reports that the Lake Almanor Ace Hardware in Chester has changed hands. Duane and Tami De Jong expressed how grateful they are to have served their customers for the past 11 years. New owners Kyle and Macey Nelepovitz took over the store Sept. 12.
The De Jongs said they plan to semiretire to do some traveling in their RV. “We are not leaving this beautiful community; we love this community/area and hope to be here for many years to come,” said Tami. “We have had the best time owning this store. Please continue to shop locally. This community needs this store! You will likely see us on the other side of the counter as customers, just like you!”
The De Jongs said they made the decision not to publicly list the sale of the store so that they could hand pick someone who would serve the community the way they did. “We believe that Kyle and Macey will be perfect to carry on our store’s legacy,” said Tami. The store will retain the same name, employees and products.
Kyle and Macey Nelepovitz
Kyle and Macey Nelepovitz expressed their excitement at becoming the new owners of Lake Almanor Ace Hardware. Kyle has been visiting Lake Almanor since he was born, spending summers at his family’s cabin, and Macey said she fell in love with the area when she and Kyle began dating in high school.
“Over the years, we’ve shared this special place with our three boys, who have grown up enjoying the lake as much as we do,” said the Nelepovitzes.
Kyle and Macey are both originally from Fort Bragg. Kyle built his career working in the hardware store his grandfather founded, while Macey owned and operated a home décor and gift shop for several years. They plan to bring their experience, dedication and love for small-town life to Chester.
“Lake Almanor already feels like home, and we look forward to serving this wonderful community and getting to know all of you through this new adventure!” they said.
