Plumas National Forest reports that approximately 3 miles of Forest Road 23N60 on the Feather River Ranger District will be closed starting Monday, Sept. 29, for reconstruction.
The road is closed between forest roads 23N15 and 23N60F, near Little North Fork Trailhead and Campground on the east side and Skyhigh Trailhead on the west side of the closure, northwest of Glazer Ridge.
Contractors are scheduled to be in the area to start work Monday and work is expected to continue for several weeks. The closure order currently extends through Friday, Nov. 28, but may be adjusted if work is completed sooner or if there are weather delays.
During the road reconstruction, the section will be impassable for both vehicle and foot traffic, with dangerous conditions, said PNF. The closed section of road will be signed on both ends. Area residents and visitors are asked to stay out of the area for public, contractor and employee safety.
The area was affected by the 2020 North Complex Fire. The road reconstruction is part of ongoing postfire recovery work on roads, trails and recreation sites in the area. The work on Forest Road 23N60 will improve public safety and access to recreation facilities and trails.
The order is formally referenced as Closure Order No. 05-11-03-25-02. Violations of the prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
