Feather River College Athletics announces that the Golden Eagles football team finished nonconference play with a blowout victory at home Sept. 27. The team moved to 4-1 on the season with the 83-7 victory versus Cabrillo College.
Isaac Matthews exploded for 171 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the third quarter. Matthews scored on a 71-yard rushing touchdown and then took a kickoff 100 yards for another touchdown after the Seahawks’ only score of the contest. Sophomore Janerious Jackson led all rushers with 125 yards and three touchdowns on 10 first-half carries.
The Golden Eagles ran just 37 offensive plays and tallied 619 total yards. Sophomore defensive back Michael Bryant returned an interception for a touchdown, while Kyle Valdez scored twice on just two receptions.
The Golden Eagles will have a bye week and then travel to Los Medanos College in Pittsburg on Saturday, Oct. 11, to open conference play.
