Warriors volleyball shows ‘progress, pride, promise’

Alumni Volleyball Tournament set for Nov. 1

Plumas Charter School reports that the 2025 season hasn’t been easy for the Warriors varsity volleyball team — but through highs and lows, players are building character, resilience and momentum. Supporters say the team demonstrates progress, pride and promise this season.

So far this year, the Warriors have fought through a challenging schedule. A standout moment came last month, when they snapped a four-game home losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Westwood with scores of 25-21, 20-25, 18-25, 25-19 and 15-13, taking sets convincingly and securing a meaningful boost at home, said PCS.

One of the team’s stronger performances came against Herlong, where PCS won 3-0 in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18, handing the Vikings another tough night on their home court. That win ended a string of road droughts and raised the Warriors’ league record.

But challenges persist, say supporters. The team dropped a 1-3 match to Princeton, marking their ninth straight loss against that program. Players have also struggled in matches such as their 2-3 defeat by Paradise Adventist and 0-3 defeat by Portola, highlighting opportunities for continued growth.

Despite these challenges, coaches say the Warriors have shown strong teamwork: “Their ability to bounce back, push teams to five sets and close tough home matches speaks to resilience beyond what the stat sheet captures.” During their win over Westwood, they were dominant in the sets they took, scoring at least 15 points each time. “That kind of performance shows what the team is capable of when everything clicks,” said PCS.

The Herlong match also signaled that they’re learning to control momentum, said PCS: “Limiting a rival to mid-teens scoring across each set shows a level of poise under pressure.”

The school says that community support and participant determination mean the Warriors are laying a foundation for a strong finish — and a promising future for the program.

Alumni Volleyball Tournament musters support

PCS said fans will soon have a fun way to show their Warrior pride while supporting both the junior high and high school volleyball programs. The Warriors Alumni Volleyball Tournament is set for Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Greenville Gym. Admission is $10 for general entry and $5 for students. The event will feature Booster Club concessions, giveaways and a serve-a-thon contest.

Adults interested in playing can join a team for a $20 entry fee. More information about signing up is available from Sarah Novak at 530-519-1150 or Adrienne Patterson at 530-382-2597.

Funds raised will directly benefit the Warriors volleyball programs.
