The Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library group announces its next big book sale, beginning Nov. 6. Dates and times are as follows:
- Thursday, Nov. 6, 2 to 6 p.m., for Friends members only
- Friday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Just in time for the holidays, the sale will feature a large selection of gently used books, CDs and other media perfect for gift-giving, for help with entertaining or for your own fireside enjoyment,” say organizers.
The sale will be held as usual in the community room of the Plumas County Library in Quincy and organizers promise there are many new and interesting books for shoppers to choose from. For browsing ease, nonfiction books are organized by category and hardback and paperback fiction are in alphabetical order by author.
As always, children’s books are free, and caregivers and their children are invited to select 20 free books per family. Weather permitting, all children’s books will be displayed outside on the library porch.
The first day of the sale is reserved for members only. Those who are not current members can purchase or renew membership at the sale. An annual membership costs $10 and entitles the member to early browsing at the group’s sales. A lifetime membership costs $100 and grants this privilege for a lifetime. Both annual and lifetime memberships are recorded per person, not per family.
Friends memberships can also be purchased as gifts for others. “The holidays are coming, and a Friends membership might be the perfect gift for anyone in your life who loves to read and cares about their community,” say organizers.
The Friends group cannot accept book donations during the sale itself. Those with books or media to donate after the sale can call Bev McColm at 530-283-3997. Organizers ask that books donated at any time comply with the book donation guidelines posted at the library.
