Fire Sirens and Elks Christmas Angels join forces

The Lake Almanor Elks Lodge reports that it has joined forces with the Peninsula Fire Sirens with the goal of creating a better Christmas for local children in the Lake Almanor basin.

Fire Sirens members, who raise funds for the Peninsula Fire District, organize an annual toy drive seeking new items that are distributed throughout the basin. The Elks Christmas Angels Project raises funds to purchase gifts for families who need assistance in gifting during the holidays. Each shopper must purchase a winter coat, a pair of boots, a hat, gloves and one educational item and then can buy other items from a child’s wish list if monies allow.

Having gifts donated will only add to a more bountiful Christmas for those in need, say organizers. “We want to make sure that the generous donors of our area know that the gifts that they have given go to those deserving in our vicinity,” says Kristy Cox, chair of Fire Sirens. “By working with the Elks Christmas Angels Project, we can assure the gifts get to those we want to serve.”

“This is the first time we have been given gifts already purchased that we can add to a child’s wish list,” says Joyce Rucshhaupt, Elks member and this year’s chair.

Organizers agree that this is a wonderful collaboration of two like-minded nonprofits.

Those interested in donating can drop off gifts at Peninsula Fire Department’s Firehall No. 2, 801 Golf Club Road. The location is inside the Lake Almanor Country Club, with access via A-13 and Clifford Drive.
