Plumas Audubon Society invites the community to help with roadside cleanup in Indian Valley on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Volunteers will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 89 and Arlington Road. All necessary gear will be provided, including bags, litter pickers, vests, helmets, gloves and goggles. Participants should wear bright colors, a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, sturdy shoes and sun protection.
Those interested should contact Faith Strailey, PAS board member and Adopt-A-Roadside coordinator, to RSVP by Nov. 8 by email or text: [email protected] or 775-501-0716.
Plumas Audubon reports it has supported the California Department of Transportation Adopt-a-Highway program for a number of years. The group typically conducts two to four highway cleanups per year, in which a crew of dedicated volunteers maintains a section of highway to keep it litter free and to protect Indian Creek from pollution.
