The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District reports that registration is now open for Feather River League youth basketball. Draft night for third and fourth graders will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Quincy Junior-Senior High School lower gym.
Organizers say practices are due to begin Nov. 17 in anticipation of the team’s first tournament invite coming in early December.
Registration for third and fourth graders costs $65. Registration for fifth through eighth graders costs $80. Registration is available online.
Open gym for youth, adults
Open gym basketball opportunities are also available through CPRPD, for both youth and adults. Youth basketball open gym is available for free at Serpilio Hall in the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds. Players in grades seven through 12 can practice Saturday nights from 7 to 10 p.m. Both boys and girls are welcome.

Adult open gym basketball is held on Saturday mornings, from 9 a.m. to noon. Organizers say participants can meet local players and get some court time leading into the adult basketball league coming in January. Games range anywhere from simple Horse and 21 Tip-It to versus and full court 5v5.
Men and women ages 16 and up are welcome to join any Saturday in November and December at no cost. A liability waiver is available to sign online.
