Bonnie Jean Pena Andersen

Dec. 25, 1941 - Oct. 23, 2025

Bonnie Jean Pena Andersen of Sequim, Washington, passed away Oct. 23, 2025, following a long battle with dementia. Bonnie was born in San Diego on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1941.

She was predeceased by her mother Sally Cogle; father Ame Ruiz Pena; brother Jimmy Reed; and sister Mae Hoffert. Bonnie is survived by her sister Janet Thomas.

Bonnie and Bill Andersen were married in Redding Sept. 3, 1965, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 3, 2025. While Bill was attending college, Bonnie worked as a Pacific Bell telephone operator in Chico. Following Bill’s graduation, he began his professional career with the U.S. Forest Service in Redding. Their three children, daughters Lisa Kaye and Ame Ruiz, and their son Andy Andersen, completed their family.

Due to transfers with the Forest Service, the family moved from Redding to Quincy, to Yreka to San Francisco, and to Washington, DC. Bill had another tour in Quincy, where he served as the forest administrative officer. Bill completed his career in San Francisco in August 1999. Upon his retirement, he and Bonnie relocated to Nipomo, California, where they resided until moving to Sequim in 2024.

Bonnie was an outstanding homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She excelled in her home decorating abilities. While living in Quincy from 1986 through 1996, their home was frequently included in the Quincy Soroptimist Christmas Home tour. In addition, Bonnie loved to needlepoint, arrange flowers and entertain friends with dinners and parties. During their time in Quincy, Bonnie made several close friends, including Faith Swanson, Susie Bennett, Marcia Bierman and many others. Bonnie was active in her faith and was a true believer of God and Jesus.

Bonnie is survived by Bill Andersen, her husband of 60 years; her daughter Lisa Gorman, of Sequim, and her children Gabby (Stephanie) Lisinski, Sequim, Andy (Caroline) Lisinski, of Chicago, and Jamie Lisinski, Sequim; her daughter Ame Gordon and son-in-law Larry Gordon, and Ame’s children Joshua (Erolyn) Duchi, all of Sequim; Bonnie’s great-granddaughter, Amelia, of Corpus Christy, Texas; grandson Michael Wikinson and great-granddaughters, Stella and Coco Wilkinson, of Sequim; son Andy and his fiancé Joy (Rosenquist) of Eldorado Hills, his children Lila Vecente (Ethan), and great-grandson Colson Vecente of Odessa, Texas, and Will Andersen of Nipomo, California.

She also leaves her brother-in-law Ernie Andersen; her closest and dearest friend Lynne Andersen of Fairfax, Virginia; niece Kristen Fleming of Bristow, Virginia; and nephew Marc (Shaza) Andersen of Great Falls, Virginia.

Her family is especially thankful for the assistance provided by the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, Washington. Bonnie’s daughters Lisa and Ame, her son-in-law Larry and grandsons Jamie Lisinski and Mike Wilkinson, provided excellent assistance to Bonnie and Bill in her final struggles.

At Bonnie’s request no services were held.
