The Plumas County Fire Safe Council reports that the Plumas Underburn Cooperative is welcoming folks to join and participate this burn season. From seasoned burners to those with no fire experience, all are welcome to join, learn throughout the season, and gain the confidence needed to make prescribed fire part of their own fuel reduction strategy, say organizers.
Prescribed fire is one of many valuable tools for reducing hazardous fuels, restoring forest health and building more fire-adapted communities, said the council. “It’s something to keep in the chest alongside chipping, defensible space and other practices that help reduce risk and strengthen resilience.”
Through PUC, landowners and community members can access the knowledge and support needed to put good fire to work safely and effectively. PUC program manager Logan Krahenbuhl welcomes inquiries pertaining to prescribed fire site visits, permitting, advice or anything else he can assist with at [email protected].
