The Office of Assemblymember Heather Hadwick reports that Hadwick recently spent several days in Plumas County, where she hosted a community town hall meeting in Chester and toured the construction site for Seneca Healthcare District’s Lake Almanor Community Hospital with SHD CEO Shawn McKenzie. She also met with Sheriff Chad Hermann and his leadership team to discuss public safety priorities and ongoing challenges facing the region.
Hadwick visited Greenville to observe continued recovery efforts following the Dixie Fire and heard firsthand about the realities of rural life — including wildfire resilience, health care access, law enforcement needs, insurance concerns, logging, local businesses and schools.
“Despite the challenges, what stood out most was Plumas County’s strong sense of community,” said Hadwick’s office. “Though the region draws visitors from across the state, it remains a place that feels like everyone’s favorite small town. Hadwick noted that local leaders are big thinkers with even bigger hearts, working hard to move their county forward.”

SHD hospital visit
Seneca Healthcare District personnel said they were proud to welcome Hadwick, whose visit proved “warm and engaging, highlighting the shared values of strength, spirit and resilience within the Lake Almanor community — qualities that truly define rural communities like ours.”
Hadwick met with Seneca executives and leadership before touring the construction site of the new hospital. The visit offered an opportunity to share the community’s vision for accessible rural health care and the progress being made toward a hospital that will serve local families for decades to come, said SHD.
“We are truly grateful for Assemblywoman Hadwick,” said Shawn McKenzie, CEO of SHD. “Her willingness to spend time with our team and learn more about the hospital’s progress shows how deeply she understands disadvantaged communities. This new facility is for the people, and it’s encouraging to share that excitement with our elected leaders.”
The visit came just ahead of Hadwick’s community town hall on Tuesday evening, where local residents gathered to discuss regional needs, ask questions and connect directly with their representative.
