Feather River College Athletics announces that the Golden Eagles volleyball team swept Modesto College 3-0 Nov. 25 to advance to the third round of the California Community College Athletic Association NorCal playoffs. FRC will host College of San Mateo on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m.
In Tuesday’s game, sophomore libero Peyton Estes recorded 21 digs and frustrated the visitors from Modesto the entire evening. Newly minted all-American setter Teya Gibbs also had an outstanding evening, chalking up 38 assists.
The Golden Eagles are the No. 3 seed and No. 1 in the coaches’ poll. San Mateo recently defeated Sacramento City in a highly contested five-set match with scores of 25-22, 21-25, 26-24, 17-25 and 15-9. FRC encourages the community to turn out for the home game; the victor on Saturday will advance to the 3C2A championship finals.
Golden Eagle all-Americans
The California Community College Women’s Volleyball Association recently released the 2025 all-state, all-region and all-American lists. Two FRC players made the lists: outside hitter Chloe Albiez was named first team all-American, and setter Teya Gibbs was named third team all-American.
Albiez, the MVP of last year’s 3C2A state championships, finished fourth in overall kills with 424 and fourth in points at 495.5. Gibbs leads the state in overall assists with 1,137.
Athlete of the month

FRC named volleyball’s Carol Manu October’s athlete of the month.
Manu is a freshman outside hitter from San Francisco. “Carol is one of the most dynamic and versatile players on our team,” said coaches. “She constantly amazes us with her ball control, athleticism and volleyball IQ. She is always the smartest player on the floor, no matter who we are facing.”
In her first season with FRC Manu has already received numerous awards including 3C2A player of the week, Delta Tournament all-tourney, Golden Valley Conference first team and GVC co-MVP alongside her teammate Chloe Albiez. Most recently she was awarded all-Northern California recognition.
