The Western Pacific Railroad Museum invites everyone aboard for Santa Trains at the museum in Portola. The family tradition returns this year on the following days:
- Saturday, Dec. 6
- Friday, Dec. 12
- Saturday, Dec. 13
- Friday, Dec. 19
- Saturday, Dec. 20
Guests can enjoy rides aboard a festive holiday train covered in lights, along with free homemade cookies, hot cider, coffee and hot chocolate. Kids are invited to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The museum opens at 4 p.m. with train rides starting at 5 and continuing until everyone has a turn, which organizers say is usually about 8 p.m.
Admission costs $15 per carload, or $10 per carload with three cans of nonperishable food for the Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network food bank. Cans are accepted at the gate the night of the event. Organizers say there is no need to purchase tickets in advance.
Any last-minute updates will be available on the museum website at https://wplives.org/news_items/santa_trains_2025.html.
