Plumas Rural Services announces that First 5 Plumas has supported the organization in making a video library of the Mindful Nurturing Parenting program for parents of children 0 to 5. This is eight-session video series was originally designed as an in-person parenting course that met once per week. Leslie Wall, PRS’ mindful living coordinator, created this series to present the topics covered in the course for parents to watch in their own home and at their own pace.
“First 5 Plumas is proud to partner with PRS to offer parents and caregivers of children ages 0 to 5 a flexible way to learn about their child’s development and parenting topics,” said First 5 Plumas Executive Director Pamela Becwar. “This program allows parents and caregivers to access content and text parent trainers directly so families have information right when and where they need it most. We want to make sure that parents have free access to excellent programs designed just for Plumas County families.”
Parents who watch the videos will be able to text staff with requests for resources and links on specific questions, such as where parents can find more information on supporting growth and development, sleep issues, potty training, school readiness and more.
Parents can also access a limited number of one-on-one sessions online with Leslie Wall to discuss their specific parenting needs and concerns while funding lasts. Wall has over 20 years of experience working with children, families and individuals, and facilitating classes and workshops. She holds certifications in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction, and as a nurturing parenting instructor and family teacher.
Parents of children 0 to 5 who complete the video sessions will be eligible for an incentive that supports them and their family, such as diapers, board books, developmental toys and more.
