The Plumas County Democrats group reports that members delivered 30 coats to the Plumas Crisis Intervention and Resource Center Dec. 15 for distribution to those in need. “Most of us take having a warm coat during the winter months for granted, but not all Plumas County residents have that luxury,” said organizers.
Each year, the crisis center collects coats for those county residents who could use a little something extra to stay warm during the winter, said organizers. Local Democrats were happy to assist.
“We’ve collected coats for the crisis center for several years now,” said the group’s secretary, Julie Hochrein. “This year we were able to make another substantial coat donation, so we’re really pleased with our members helping to make that happen.”
Joining Hochrein in delivering the coats to PCIRC’s Executive Director Kate Rahmeyer were Terri Simon-Jackson, Pete Hochrein, Democratic Central Committee Vice-Chair Susan Christensen and Central Committee Chair Faith Strailey.
Said Strailey, “In a small community like ours, everyone is a neighbor. It’s important to lend a hand whenever we can.”
