Congressional candidate Denney speaks in Quincy

Quincy Area Indivisible reports that congressional candidate Audrey Denney will be speaking in Quincy Jan. 11 at 4 p.m. at the Plumas County Library, 445 Jackson St. Denney, a Democratic candidate, will be speaking to the public about her candidacy for the 1st Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Denney has degrees in agriculture education, runs a business supporting food security in the United States and teaches at California State University, Chico. She lives in Chico and her platform includes getting big money out of politics, forest health and fire prevention, and working for affordable health care. Organizers point out that Plumas County will be in the 1st Congressional District after the November 2026 election, due to the passage of Proposition 50 in November 2025. The new 1st District includes Lassen, Plumas, Sierra, Tehama, Butte, Glenn, eastern Mendocino, northern Lake and northeast Sonoma counties. 

The largest cities are Chico and Santa Rosa, and smaller towns and cities include Quincy, Portola, Loyalton, Susanville, Red Bluff, Lakeport and Clearlake. The primary election for the 1st District will be in June 2026.
