Homeowners eligible for up to $500,000 to rebuild

The California Department of Housing and Community Development is providing funding through ReCoverCA Housing Programs to homeowners affected by the 2021 Dixie Fire, declared a disaster by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Homeowners and landlords willing to rent to households with low to moderate income may be eligible for up to $500,000 to repair and reconstruct their homes, or up to $50,000 for wildfire mitigation retrofits to reduce risk and improve resiliency in the event of future disasters.

The Dixie Fire Collaborative is offering information about this program Thursday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 127 Crescent St., Suite 2 in Greenville. This is also an opportunity to apply in person.

Anyone affected by the Dixie Fire, or who knows someone who was, is invited to attend this public application intake event to learn about the following:

• Programs and eligibility criteria.

• The application process and needed documentation.

• Assistance with filling out and submitting the program application.

Those who want to start an application or work with a case manager at the event are invited to make an appointment by calling 619-614-3772. Walk-ins may be available if time allows.
