The Sun to shine a light on local history

Plumas County winters past

In 2024, The Plumas Sun is excited to begin publishing regular pieces on the remarkable history of Plumas County—its people, industry, scenery, and events.

Today, as we celebrate the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, and the first official day of the winter season, here is a quick glimpse into Plumas County winters of the past.

Do you have memories from Plumas County winters to share? Whether it’s ice hockey in Genesee in the 1970s or riding the poma at Johnsville in the 1990s, we’d love to hear from you. Send your photos and stories to editor@plumassun.org for a chance to have them included in a future article.
