Slide work continues in Feather River Canyon

State Route 70 in the Feather River Canyon remains closed to through traffic between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye due to multiple slides. Caltrans District 2 and Nordic Industries Inc. have completed rock scaling operations approximately three miles east of the Butte/Plumas County line and are continuing to remove debris from the area.

Caltrans reports that as of April 16 most of the work at the slide location between Twain and the Greenville Wye has been completed. Paving operations are planned for both locations.

Work at the slide in Caltrans District 3, located near Cresta, is continuing. This slide involves a significant amount of material, as seen in the video at https://www.facebook.com/61556756493806/videos/459102499789721. Survey estimates suggest this slide involves about 2,300 yards of rock that needs to be broken up and hauled out of the canyon.
