County fair entry deadline is July 5

John Steffanic, manager of the Plumas-Sierra County Fair, reminds the community that the deadline for fair entries is July 5. “Take a deep breath and relax,” he says. “It only takes minutes to enter and remember, you don’t have to bring the actual entry to the fairgrounds until fair time.” Those interested in entering just need to drop off or mail in the entry form.

Forms are available at the fair office, 204 Fairgrounds Road in Quincy, or online at http://www.plumas-sierracountyfair.net. The entire exhibit guide is available on the website, and individual entry forms can be printed out as well. Steffanic instructs entrants to find the section that’s appropriate for what they want to enter, then find their division and class. Fill out the form with contact information, the division and class of each entry with a brief description, and submit the form to the fairgrounds with the entry fee(s). “Most entry fees are $2 and you have a chance to win money, a ribbon and the eternal admiration from your friends and neighbors,” he said. “If you swear your buttermilk biscuits are better than your next door neighbor’s, then settle it on the biscuit battlefield of the Plumas-Sierra County Fair.”

Steffanic pointed out that entries are one of the best ways the community can support the fairgrounds. Having lots of entries shows that people are interested and offers an example to everyone who attends the annual fair. “The community wants to see what you have grown, made or raised,” he said.

The Plumas-Sierra County Fair will be held July 25 through 28. For more information, call the fair office at 530-283-6272.
