Quincy Firewise meeting focuses on forest fuels

Quincy Firewise Community organizers invite everyone to join them for an informative program April 24 next about U.S. Forest Service safety initiatives and projects.

This month’s speaker is Dave Kinateder, who currently works as a fuels planner for the Plumas National Forest and has been in this position for the past 13 years. In this position he helps plan landscape-level fuels reduction and forest heath projects to help protect communities. He also works extensively with grants and agreements and contractors employing a wide variety of fuels reduction techniques.

To help demonstrate and promote fuels treatments, Kinateder has been making YouTube content that is both informative and entertaining, say organizers. For this Firewise meeting, he will be presenting some of this content and will describe some of the messages these videos are trying to convey. His content can be found at Booter Dave Kinateder (@booterdavekinateder4432).

The Quincy Firewise Community Meeting will be held at the West End Theatre on Wednesday, April 24, at 5 p.m. Organizers extend the invitation to all in the interest of protecting the local community from the devastating effects of wildfire and in the belief that residents can take collective actions to keep the town and surrounding forest healthy and safe: “Please join us and consider bringing a friend or neighbor.”
