March Soropti-student Brody Nunez honored

Soroptimist International of Quincy announced that the group honored Soropti-student Brody Nunez at its March lunch meeting at Wildflower Cafe. Quincy Junior-Senior High School faculty selected him as one of seven seniors outstanding in the areas of academics, leadership, activities and community service. A
member of the California Scholarship Federation, Nunez has maintained a 4.0 GPA while participating in many activities and community service projects.

A dedicated athlete, since 2014 Nunez has played club soccer for Chico United FC and varsity high school soccer for three years. As team captain in his junior year, he helped lead his high school team to a California Interscholastic Federation championship. Nunez also was the kicker for the football team for four years.

Nunez’s senior project for Quincy High was running and managing the Central Plumas Recreation and Park District soccer camp last July. Nunez explained that the goal of his project was to share his soccer experience and passion with children in the community. During the four-day camp, he taught over 100 local students fundamentals of the game, especially activities and drills that were more advanced. “I also
had a lot of growth as a person during this project,” he said. “I grew my confidence in teaching and how to do it while keeping things fun and learning how to time manage and work with other coaches.”
